Tavolavila is an invitation-only supper club in San Francisco. Multi-course seasonal meals are hosted in a private home.

why?

There are thousands of great spots to eat in this town and the Bay Area overall, with the full range of cost and experiences. Too often, we eat our dinner on the way to something else--a concert, a play, a party. And we miss the true purpose of being "at table" with our friends and loved ones.

We've been noodling this idea for a few years, with several dining experiences that provided fodder and inspiration.

The amazing (and amazingly long) dinner at Casa Mariazinha in Oporto, Portugal. Watching a group of Italians linger over dinner at Evangelista in Rome.

That's what we want to create: a dining event. Not rushed for the next guests who are hovering at the door. Not the empty anonymous feeling of eating in a bustled, cavernous restaurant. And not the hushed "Church of Keller" feeling we got at The French Laundry.
